Three teens and a 46-year-old male were arrested after a traffic stop in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside after police say they found both drugs and a weapon.

According to a release, the incident took place on Thursday night, just after 8 pm.

Patrol officers say they spotted a black Ford Escape driving through the side streets of the Strathcona neighbourhood, south of East Hastings Street.

A constable stopped the car because it had no insurance, and upon inspection, found three teenagers and an adult inside. The officer also allegedly found a loaded Glock 22 and “a significant amount of drugs” on their person.

Four occupants of the vehicle were arrested for the alleged firearms offence and taken into custody.

The VPD says that three men — a 46-year-old from North Vancouver, and a 17-year-old and 18-year-old from Vancouver — face numerous drugs and weapons charges.

The remaining occupant of the car, a 16-year-old girl, was released without charges.

Police say that they have seized over 150 firearms since the start of 2019.
