Trade Deadline Watch

Dec 19 2017, 3:19 pm

Once upon a time, the NHL trade deadline was worth hosting day-long coverage of trans-action around the league. You may have woken up this morning early at 7 a.m. like I did to see on TSN, James Duthie crying for some action, and Jay Onrait talking to his plant (he named it finally, by the way: Sergei Bobovtree!). Sportsnet was even worse, with Mike Keenan and Pat Quinn (a match made in heaven) sharing their stories of once being relevant in the hockey world.

Regardless, the last few hours of trading does bring up some news, so keep up with Vancity Buzz to get a quick run-down on the day’s biggest deals.

Here’s what we know now:

Deals

Gaborik to Columbus

Pominville to Wild

Penguins acquire Jussi Jokinen

Lightning acquire Ben Bishop for rookie Conacher

Sharks acquire Scott Hannan for a conditional pick

No Deals

Miika Kiprusoff announced he will not accept a trade, and plans to retire as a Flame this year.

Roberto Luongo looks like he’s staying past the deadline, as Toronto is unwilling to offer a tangible asset back to Vancouver.

Keep up with us to hear more.
