Track Review: Willa, "Stay The Night"

DH Vancouver Staff Nov 03, 2014 8:07 am

Willa is a vixen of darkness, shrouded in mystery, and poised to cast you under her spell.

“Stay The Night,” the first single released from the collaborative project of Vancouver-based musicians Ali Milner and Ryan Guldemonde (Mother Mother), is steeped in sweeping synths, reverberating drums, and fuzzy riffs. With Guldemonde behind the booth, Milner’s mesmerizing vocals echo through electronic haze — indeed, quite a departure from her usual soulful pop, but one that is hellishly good. If this addictive cut is any indication of what’s to come from Willa, music fans are about to be swept off their feet. Keep your ear to the ground and your wits about you.
