Toyota announced today it would be recalling more than 2 million cars in North America due to a potential fault in the driver’s side power window switch.

According to a press release, the driver’s side power window was “manufactured with insufficient lubricant grease,” which over time could lead to a short circuit, melting, and even fire.

The Toyota recall affects cars produced between 2007 and 2011, including:

  • 2007 and 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid
  • 2009-2011 Corolla
  • 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid
  • 2009-2011 Matrix

  • 2006-2010 Yaris
  • 2009-2011 Scion xB
  • 2009-2010 Scion xD

Owners of the affected models will be contacted by first class mail, and given further instructions.
