Toronto Blue Jays one victory away from winning the World Series

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming home with a shot to make history.

On Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the Blue Jays picked up a massive 6-1 victory to take a 3-2 lead in the 2025 World Series.

Toronto is now one game away from securing its first World Series title since 1993, and its first major sports championship since the Raptors won the NBA title in 2019.

Toronto rookie starter Trey Yesavage was once again dealing like a 10-year veteran, throwing seven innings and striking out 12 batters to break his own franchise postseason record, which is also the all-time World Series record for a rookie. His lone blemish came in the fourth inning, where he gave up a solo home run to the Dodgers’ Enrique Hernandez.

The game couldn’t have gotten off to a better start for the Blue Jays, who hit homers in their first two at-bats.

Davis Schneider went yard on the very first pitch of the game, followed just two pitches later by Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

The Blue Jays added a third run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, but it wouldn’t be all they had left in the tank.

A fourth and a fifth run came in the seventh inning, with a wild pitch from Edgardo Henriquez followed up by a Bo Bichette RBI single, who is still grinding his way through injury. Isiah Kiner-Falefa added an RBI single in the top of the eighth to extend Toronto’s lead to five.

Outside of the early home runs, Dodgers starter Blake Snell mostly calmed down, working into the seventh inning while giving up six hits and three earned runs, and was credited with two more after leaving the game.

The teams will now zip back to Toronto for a potential final game of the MLB season on Friday at the Rogers Centre. Should it be forced to a seventh and final game, that would go Saturday, also in Toronto.
