The Toronto Blue Jays have a very young prospect that fans are going to be hearing more and more about moving forward.

Arjun Nimmala, who the Blue Jays selected 20th overall in the 2023 Major League Baseball draft, is quickly rising up the list of the best prospects in baseball.

The 19-year-old shortstop, who hails from Tampa, Florida, is having an incredible start to his 2025 season with the High-A Vancouver Canadians.

Nimmala, who is the youngest regular player in the Northwest League, isn’t just surviving, but thriving. His six home runs through 21 games and 89 at-bats are tied for the league lead with Seattle Mariners prospect Lazaro Montes. He’s hitting .303 with 13 RBI while also having registered a stolen base.

It’s been a terrific start to the season for Nimmala, who, in 90 games with the Low-A Dunedin Blue Jays in 2024, hit .232 with 17 home runs, 47 RBI, and nine stolen bases.

Nimmala is currently ranked as the top prospect in the Blue Jays organization, ahead of some other very exciting names, including Trey Yesavage, Orelvis Martinez, Ricky Tiedemann, and Alan Roden. He’s also currently ranked as the 82nd best prospect in all of baseball, and should only continue to climb the ranks as the 2025 season progresses.

Though Nimmala still has a ways to go in his development before becoming an impactful player at the MLB level, he’s turning a lot of heads early this season. Blue Jays fans should be feeling very excited about his future and what he is likely to provide the organization with in the years to come.
