These four Toronto Blue Jays players once starred for the Vancouver Canadians

The Toronto Blue Jays have had an excellent 2025 season, and a big part of it has been the play of their talent built from within.

The Jays have several players on their roster whom they have worked with through the minor leagues to help turn them into impactful, everyday MLBers. Finishing the regular season with an AL-best 94-68 record goes to show just how much their development through the ranks has paid off.

While not the case with all of their former prospects who now find themselves on the Jays roster, there are a number of players on this current team who spent part of their time developing with the Vancouver Canadians, a team that serves as the High-A affiliate of the Jays.

Without further ado, here’s a look at the current Jays players who suited up for the Canadians at one point during their baseball career.

Trey Yesavage

  • Seasons spent with Canadians: 2025

Trey Yesavage’s rise to the big leagues has been a quick one. The 22-year-old, who dazzled late in the regular season with the Jays and has made two postseason starts, pitched 17.1 innings with the Canadians earlier in 2025.

Yesavage has played in a total of five leagues in what has been a season for the ages. During his four starts with the Canadians, he registered a 1.56 ERA with a ridiculous 33 strikeouts.

Addison Barger

  • Seasons spent with Canadians: 2021-2022

After some struggles through 69 games in 2024, Addison Barger has been a huge component of the Jays’ success this season. The 25-year-old had 21 home runs and 74 RBI along with a .243 batting average in 135 games in 2025.

Prior to becoming a regular in the MLB, Barger spent parts of two seasons with the Canadians. The first came in 2021, though he only suited up for five games. In 2022, he appeared in 69 outings, where he hit .300 with 14 home runs and 53 RBI.

Davis Schneider

  • Seasons spent with Canadians: 2019, 2021-2022

Despite somewhat of a tumultuous 2025 season, which saw him spend some time in Triple-A Buffalo, Davis Schneider was able to get his way back on the Jays and has been a part of the playoff roster.

Schneider, who wasn’t selected until the 28th round of the 2017 draft, played a combined 113 games with the Canadians over the course of three seasons. His final season with the Canadians in 2022 saw him hit .229 with eight long balls and 25 RBI.

Mason Fluharty

  • Seasons spent with Canadians: 2022-2023

The 24-year-old Mason Fluharty has become a reasonably big part of the Blue Jays’ bullpen in recent months. He managed a 4.44 ERA in 52.2 innings this season, and has appeared in four innings so far this postseason.

Fluharty appeared in 10 games with the Canadians during the 2022 season, but it was in 2023 where he really dazzled. The left-handed pitcher posted a microscopic 0.59 ERA in 15.1 innings before being promoted to Double-A ball.

Also of note is that John Schneider, who serves as the manager of the Blue Jays, was the manager of the Canadians in 2011, 2014, and 2015.
