As we approach the midway mark of summer, I thought it would be nice to round up some of the free things you can do in Vancouver when the weather is all warm and toasty. Compiling this list wasn’t easy (after all nothing beats a Vancouver summer) as our writers each brought different things to the table. However, the following five things were at the top of everyone’s list.

1. Celebration of Light Fireworks (see our post on Vancouver Celebration of Light Festival 2010 here): Although many in the West End and Kitsilano may not like the crowds, you cannot deny the popularity of this event. 400,000 people watch them each night and that’s just counting downtown. If you’re in Vancouver or live in Vancouver during the time of the fireworks, make sure you see them.
2. The beach: Really nothing to say here, check out our top 5 beaches in Vancouver list.
3. Outdoor movies: There’s the ones going on in Stanley Park and the one in Yaletown on August 8th.
4. People watching: I’d argue that Vancouver is in the top 5 when it comes to beautiful women (and yes men too, ladies) in the world. Have you seen our ever expanding list!? Whether your at the beach, strolling the seawall, relaxing in Stanley Park or grabbing a few drinks in a patio somewhere, the beautiful people will follow.
5. Night markets: Both Richmond and Vancouver’s Chinatown Night Market have lots to offer and a great way to wind down the day.

Let us know what you think of our list and feel free to add some more in the comments section.
