Tinder: connecting local singles one App download at a time

Dec 19 2017, 3:17 pm

Tinder, which you may have heard about somewhere amidst the Vancouver dating scene, is a new app created to assist you in finding your next local match. Apps are meant to make our lives easier and Tinder does just that- bringing the selection process right to your fingertips.

How it works:

Once you’ve downloaded the app, Tinder quickly explains that the control is in your hands: Linking to your Facebook profile (note that Tinder will not post anything to your Facebook and you will remain anonymous,) Tinder finds singles near you giving you the option to skim through photos with the choice to “like” or bypass the single on your screen.

Here’s the catch – the only way two people can connect via Tinder is by both “liking” each other. You “like” someone; you have to await their “like” before any further contact. Someone “likes” you, but you bypass their photo without that mutual feeling? They are then unable to contact you. This assists in sifting through the creepy, unwanted messages you receive on all other dating sites.

After linking to your Facebook, you have the option of choosing photos, a status and a radius to find singles near you. Founded in 2012, the easy to use app is attracting local singles and spreading like wild fire.

Once you’ve downloaded and signed up you will notice how many options are near you and how many you will recognize. Could Tinder be the fix to Vancouver’s dating dilemma? Let’s wait and see.
