Tim Hortons raising coffee, food prices as of November 26

Word that increased prices were brewing at Tim Hortons made the rounds earlier this month, but now it’s official. The chain will be raising the prices for coffee and some food starting November 26.

A sign about the impending increases has been placed in many Tim Hortons locations nationwide, according to the Inside Timmies blog. The sign says:

To our Valued Guests:
Please be aware that due to rising operational costs, there will be a moderate price increase affecting some menu items effective Wednesday, November 26th.

We appreciate your patronage, and look forward to continuing to provide you with the same great value, quality and freshness that you have some to enjoy.

Tim Hortons says “rising operational costs” are to blame. Coffee prices will go up an average of 10 cents a cup, likely because of the soaring cost of coffee beans on the international market. The cost of breakfast sandwiches will also be upped in all provinces except Ontario, notes The Canadian Press, thanks to meat costs.

Recently, Tim Hortons posted a loss in the wake of the big Burger King deal. But overall, Canadians are spending more at the chain, thanks to the company’s successful upselling of pricier menu items.
