Tim Hortons launches "Hero Cups" donning essential workers' names

Tim Hortons has launched a new print of cups in honour of essential workers across Canada.

Hero Cups feature large “Thank You” and “Merci” messages where the Tims logo usually is, and the rest of the cup’s surface area will be covered with the names and professions of 100 essential workers.

Nominations for whose names will be featured on the cups begin on Monday, June 15.

Guests are invited to nominate adults who have been on the frontline during the pandemic — healthcare workers; first responders; truck drivers; retail staff; government workers; public transit staff, and anyone else who has worked to keep the country running.

“Frontline workers have been the backbone of our communities during these extremely difficult times. Like all Canadians, we want to ensure that we continue to show our gratitude and appreciation by shining a spotlight on them,” said Hope Bagozzi, chief marketing officer of Tim Hortons, in a release.

“These limited-edition Tim Hortons Hero Cups are another opportunity to showcase some special people and let us all be a part of acknowledging their amazing contributions.”

One of those already selected to be featured on a Tim Hortons Hero Cup is Debra Conway-Chung, a Registered Nurse Manager of Access and Flow at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. During the pandemic, she has written inspirational messages on her masks to inspire patients and co-workers during challenging moments.

“Nursing is truly a calling and I don’t feel like a hero. I truly love what I do,” said Conway-Chung. “It’s an amazing gesture Tim Hortons thought of and I will be nominating many people I know who have been selfless and instrumental throughout this pandemic.”

You can nominate someone for their chance to be featured on a Tim Hortons Hero Cup here up until June 24. Nominees will be contacted and asked to provide their consent before being considered for the inclusion of their names.

All selected heroes will also be featured online.
