The Vancouver Canucks could certainly use a little more championship pedigree in the house.

On Friday night, that’s exactly what they got.

A few star athletes were spotted taking in the Canucks preseason victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night.

Multiple members of the Dallas Mavericks witnessed the Canucks 3-2 preseason overtime win over Oilers, including four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson.

The Mavericks have been in Vancouver for the week, completing their training camp up at SFU Burnaby.

Thompson joined the Mavs in 2024 after a decorated 13-year career with the Golden State Warriors.

There were more noteworthy athletes spotted in the crowd on Friday at Rogers Arena.

German soccer star Thomas Müller was sitting in the lower bowl with fans and his Vancouver Whitecaps FC teammate, Tosaint Ricketts.

Fans had some alternative theories as to why Müller was taking in the action.

The 36-year-old phenom commented recently on the lack of winning in Vancouver.

“When I talked to some people… they are [saying,] ‘we are never winning something,’” Müller said to the media earlier in the week.

“The Whitecaps are not winning, the Canucks are not winning. I have the feeling that Vancouver people, they accept not winning.”

“I’m not used to that, I want to change that so people care a little bit more about winning or even if we do not win, that they care a little bit more.”

Müller isn’t a guy who is accustomed to losing, as the German soccer star broke a record on Wednesday for the most championships by a player in his country’s history. He set that mark after the Whitecaps defeated Vancouver FC in the Canadian Championship Final.

After the game, Müller met up with fellow star German athlete Leon Draisaitl.
