Third suspect arrested in string of armed robberies in Surrey and Delta

A third suspect has been arrested for a trio of robberies that took place in Surrey and Delta earlier this year.

On February 7, 2019, at approximately 6:50 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a pharmacy in the 15100 block of Fraser Highway.

Officers learned that two males entered the store with their faces covered, with a knife, and allegedly demanded money and pharmaceuticals.

About 15 minutes later, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a similar armed robbery at another pharmacy located a short distance away in the 15900 block of Fraser Highway.

Police say they located and tried to stop the suspect vehicle, which attempted to flee the scene and caused a minor collision with a police vehicle.

The suspect driver exited the car and tried to flee on foot but was quickly arrested by officers.

During the investigation, police learned of a third similar armed robbery that took place on February 7 at 5:15 pm in Delta in the 6900 block of Scott Road.

Karman Singh Grewal, 26, and Gursimran Singh Sahota, 21, face multiple charges including robbery, and obstruction of a peace officer.

On May 1, Brandon Allen Mayes, 25, of Surrey was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Three counts of Robbery
  • Three Counts of Committing an indictable offence with face covered
  • Two counts of Assault by threatening to use a weapon

Mayes, Gerewal, and Sahota remain in custody.
