Thinking about a career in tech? RED Academy announces new September programs

Dec 20 2017, 12:57 am

With summer winding down, the new school year is of course just around the corner. Whether you’re getting ready for another semester or your school days are far behind you, this time of year often sparks many to consider (or reconsider) their career path.

For recent grads, finishing four years of school may have been the easy part, but finding a job may not be. In fact, the number of unemployed Canadians under the age of 24 is double the overall national jobless rate and, according to Statistic Canada, one in three graduates under 30 is employed in a low-skilled job that doesn’t require that level of education.

That’s why finding a job, let alone one that graduates can apply their skills to, is becoming a growing concern. It’s this uncertainty that has caused many to look to a new career in tech, which is actually experiencing difficulties finding enough skilled workers to employ. Known for their lucrative pay and flexible work schedules, it’s an attractive career choice for anyone looking for a fresh start.

With a unique approach to education, RED Academy is a leading edge technology school based out of a brand new, custom-built 5,500 square foot agency-style space on the corner of Broadway and Granville. RED was born out of some of Western Canada’s leading digital agencies with a mission to produce the much-needed designers, creators, developers and digital marketers of tomorrow.

“At RED, our core mission to get you employed. We teach you the skills, the tools and technologies that Vancouver tech companies are using today,” says Colin Mansell, Managing Director of RED Academy. “We work with over 60 local tech companies who form our network of industry hiring partners to design highly engaging, immersive learning programs. Our approach gives students the technical skills and knowledge to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving workplace.”

In their 12-week Professional Programs, students can specialize in Web Development, User Experience Design or Digital Marketing. Set to launch September 21, each boutique class has a limited availability, and there are only 45 places per term in the entire school, which Mansell notes are quickly becoming booked up.
