The 2019 Monstercat Compound is just a few weeks away.
The annual block party, entering its third year, is hosted by one of Canada’s coolest independent labels, bringing together music, gaming, merch, beer gardens, and music education.
Not to mention, plenty of art installations, games, and food trucks.
The community celebration is expected to bring in thousands of visitors and will take over Railtown on Saturday, August 24.
To help you get excited for the big day, here are 10 things to do at the 2019 Monstercat Compound.
Check out live performances at the Monstercat Stage
Hit the Monstercat Stage to check out fan favourites with headliners Drezo, Conro, Tails, Grant, and Disero. You’ll be dancing the day away and adding their music to your playlists in no time.
Discover up-and-coming artists and underground beats
Compound will also showcase some of the best up-and-coming artists. Partygoers will have the chance to listen to underground beats at the Groundwerk Stage, powered by Music BC with Adam2, xtine, Leon V, and Joel West.
Learn how to make your own music
The Nimbus School of Recording will be on site with their educators and artists, giving visitors a chance to learn to make beats of their own.
Try out new instruments and premier DJ equipment
Attendees will have a chance to play around on instruments and create music at the Tom Lee Music tent. They’ll also have the chance to test out premier DJ equipment from Pioneer Canada, as well as electronic music hardware from Roland and Ableton.
Test your skills at the Rendition Gaming Zone
If you need a break between concerts, test your gaming skills at the Rendition Gaming Zone. They’ll have games like Beat Saber, Electronauts, Rocket League, and Just Shapes & Beats.
Try your hand at carnival games
What would a party be without old school games as well? The compound will have classic carnival and board games such as giant Jenga, hula hoop, and Kerplunk.
Enjoy free face painting and airbrush tattoos
It wouldn’t be a festival without face painting and airbrush tattoos — the compound will have students from the John Casablanca Institute to get you party-ready.
Check out live art installations
Check out the live art installations with local artists such as Greta Burley, Adam Rashid, and John Velten.
Enjoy food from Vancouver’s most popular food trucks
What’s a block party without some food? Grab a bite from the local iconic Railtown Cafe or Belgard Kitchen. Plant-based foodies can also check out the Bandidas and Chickpea food trucks.
Meet the Monstercat family
Say hi to the Monstercat family! They’ll be at the festival wearing staff t-shirts.
