The Psychedelic Furs

  • What: Born out of the post-punk UK rock scene in 1977, the Furs quickly developed as one of the premiere bands on US College and Modern Rock radio scoring a multitude of #1 singles. Now they’re back to bring you even more alternative rock.

Starlight Theatre at Lansdowne Centre – Sing

  • What: Take a drive and cuddle up, or bring a blanket and lawn chair and settle in for a screening of the animated smash, Sing. Parking is on a first-come first-served basis (first 200 vehicles), with movie audio will be broadcast over FM radio. And keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event, so smoking and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Burnaby Neighbourhood House Community BBQ Picnic

  • What: The Burnaby Neighbourhood House’s annual BBQ picnic. There will be hot dogs, cotton candy, games, face paint and more.

Thrive Series: How BC’s political landscape could impact your small business

  • What: Understand how potential changes to BC’s tax, labour, and regulatory environment will shape the economy under the new provincial government. Also learn ways in which small businesses can advocate for their interests, and understand how to mitigate the impact of political uncertainty. Featuring speaker Kirk Lapointe.

Guest Chef Dinner Series: Jonathan Tam, Relæ at The Farmer’s Apprentice

  • What: Jonathan Tam of Denmark’s famed Relæ restaurant co-hosts a guest chef dinner at The Farmer’s Apprentice. There will be two seatings at 6 and 8:30 pm for this multi-course menu with wine pairings selected by Farmer’s Apprentice and Grapes & Soda wine director Kieran Fanning.

Jackie Kashian: An Evening of Stand-Up

  • What: Jackie Kashian has appeared twice on the Conan O’Brien show, Comedy Central’s @midnight and has recorded This American Life with Ira Glass for NPR. Her critically acclaimed podcast, The Dork Forest, is in its 10th year, and her new hour stand-up special This Will Make an Excellent Horcrux is available on CD, DVD and digital download on Comedy Film Nerds.
