VSO at the Movies: Jurassic Park

  • What: Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will take you back to 1993 with live performance of Jurassic Park‘s iconic score by John Williams to accompany an HD showing of Spielberg’s beloved blockbuster. Conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos will be on hand to guide the VSO and welcome you to Jurassic Park.

18th Annual Hyde Creek Salmon Festival

  • What: This family event provides visitors of all ages the opportunity to observe salmon up close and learn about their life cycle through educational displays, salmon dissections and in-stream demonstrations. Come out for a day of exploring, experiencing and learning about the salmon and wildlife in a fish-bearing watershed.

Eastside Culture Crawl

  • What: In this long-running Eastside tradition, 500+ artists will welcome 30,000 visitors to their studios over the course of four days. Stretching across 80 different buildings around East Vancouver, the bustling festival environment is a great way to discover new local artists in the hood.

West Coast Christmas Show 2017

  • What: Now in its 10th year, the West Coast Christmas Show is a three-day event that features over 200 vendors and live presentations. There will also be Christmas music performed by local bands, choirs, and carollers, along with a huge working model train setup. Elsewhere there’s decorating ideas to be found in the Festival of Trees and in Santa’s Workshop, children can learn model making, sand-art, write letters to Santa, and take pictures with the jolly fellow himself.

Bravery Takes Balls

  • What: As part of SAXX Underwear‘s “Bravery Takes Balls” campaign, Braeden Ralla, owner of Purpose Smoothie Co., will strip off from November 17 to 21 in the window of Boys’Co to help raise awareness and funds for Movember. For every pair of SAXX’s Movember collection sold, $2 will be donated to the Movember foundation, to further the funding of men’s health research.

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde

  • What: An intimate version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s science fiction classic featuring two haunting chorus characters who speed along the action, play many supporting roles, and speak to Jekyll as the voices in his head, spurring him toward triumph and tragedy. Presented by Theater Crossing and Kits House.

  • What: All handmade, all the time – Krafted Market is on of Delta’s most exciting community markets that takes place during the holiday season. This market has a great selection of local vendors and food producers. Partial proceeds from admission fees go towards the South Delta Food Bank, and there is also free parking.

Museum of Anthropology at UBC presents The Fabric of Our Land: Salish Weaving

  • What: The Museum of Anthropology at UBC with the Musqueam Indian Band present The Fabric of Our Land: Salish Weaving. Curated by Susan Rowley in collaboration with Salish weavers, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the past 200 years of Salish wool weaving. The exhibition will provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view rare early Salish weavings on loan from museums in Europe and the United States, as well as works created by contemporary Salish weavers.
