Downtown Eastside Women’s Summer Fair & Flea Market

  • What: The summer fair provides safe income opportunities for women in the Downtown Eastside, and hosts more than 25 vendors and artisans from within the community. Each Saturday throughout the duration of the market, there will be lively entertainment from local performers, an area for children to play, information booths about the different resources available in the community, and a wide variety of goods and services for purchase.
  • Where: The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre – 302 Columbia St, Vancouver
  • When: Every Saturday until September 30 from 11 am to 4 pm
  • Admission: Free

Nothing But Games Surrey 2017

  • What: Whether you’re a video-gamer or a boardgame enthusiast, the event will be a mecca for gamers with 32-hours of non-stop action alongside topical workshops, panel discussions, and even a spot of LARPing.
  • Where: Sheraton Hotel Guildford – 5269 104 Ave, Surrey
  • When: Saturday, June 17 to Sunday, June 18, 10 am to 6 pm

West End Car Free Festival

  • What: The West End brings together business owners, community organizations, artists and volunteers to seed the idea of building a better, more livable city. There are music stages and jam sessions to listen to, art being exhibited and created live on the street and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or something to drink.
  • Where: Denman Street from Robson to Davie
  • When: Saturday, June 17 from noon to 7 pm

Whitecaps FC vs. FC Dallas

  • What: It will be a tough test for Carl Robinson’s team as Dallas FC come to town.
  • Where: BC Place – 777 Pacific Blvd, Vancouver
  • When: Saturday, June 17 at 7 pm

Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

  • What: Thousands of people visit the Scandinavian Community Centre every year to celebrate the traditions and festivities of Scandinavian Midsummer. In 2017, it will be the 22nd time a Midsummer Festival is held, with fun-filled activities, living history and non-stop entertainment for the whole family.
  • Where: Scan­di­na­vian Com­mu­nity Cen­tre – 6540 Thomas Street, Burnaby
  • When: Saturday, June 17 to Sunday, June 18
  • Tickets: $10, free for children under 16

Surrey Doors Open

  • What: Surrey Doors Open is a free event for all ages providing a unique opportunity for Surrey residents and visitors to experience the cities rich culture, history, art and architecture. This year, 21 venues across City Centre, Cloverdale, Newton and South Surrey are being showcased. The venues will feature a mix of historic sites, modern architecture, public art and green spaces.

Kitsilano Block Parties

  • What: Kitsilano does something different for Car Free Day. Instead of closing off a major street, people throughout Kits host block parties with their neighbours. The block parties are as individual as the people who pull them together. Some have dancing, some have music, some have couches, chairs and carpets in the middle of the street and some share chips and a drink together. All of them are a fun, relaxing chance to hang out with the people who live in the neighbourhood.

Surrey Relay For Life 2017

  • What: Join others and take part in activities while raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society’s research and support services. You don’t have to be running to participate in the event. It’s easy to walk the track, pass the baton to your teammate, and join in on fun activities.
  • Where: Bill Reid Amphitheatre – 17728 64 Ave, Surrey
  • When: Saturday, June 17, from 11am to 11pm

  • What: The event features scores of stalls stretching from Broadway to Burrard Inlet and Clark Drive to Nanaimo. From records to retro furniture, there’s something for everyone to bargain-hunt for at Vancouver’s biggest garage sale event.

2017 Downtown Bhangra Festival

  • What: The day-long celebration of Bhangra culture will feature world-class headliners like singer Zora Randhawa and rapper Fateh, who topped the charts with their recent hits. More than 250 local and international artists will be part of the Downtown Bhangra festival.

Vancouver Canadians Annual Father’s Day Catch

  • What: The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club invites families across the Lower Mainland to its annual Father’s Day Catch at the iconic Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium. Families can enjoy dad’s special day by warming up the field for the team’s home opener on June 20 with a good old fashioned game of catch.
  • Where: Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium – 4601 Ontario Street, Vancouver, (Entrance to this event will be along the third base side of the stadium.)
  • When: Sunday, June 18, from 1 and 3 pm

Pop-Up Roller Disco

  • What: For rollerskaters who want to get together and skate in a fun, low-pressure setting. Think classic roller rink vibes: big hair, short shorts, long socks, glitter. You’ll hear disco, funk, R&B and glam rock from the ’70s and ’80s heyday of the roller rink. Prizes for Best Costume, and all skills and wheels welcome!

Lafarge Lake Annual Free Fishing Day

  • What: A free family-friendly day of fishy fun and prizes during BC’s free fishing weekend – when anglers can fish BC’s waters without a licence. The Lake is stocked for the day and volunteers are available to teach fishing techniques.

Artisans in the Fort

  • What: An intimate shopping event for everyone in Fort Langley. Each vendor is one of BC’s amazing artisan community.

Garden Days 2017 at UBC Botanical Garden

  • What: National Garden Days is a Canada-wide event designed to celebrate gardens across the country. Bring your family and friends to tour the Garden.
  • Where: UBC Botanical Garden – 6804 SW Marine Dr, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, June 16 to Sunday, June 18 at 9:30 am
  • Tickets: Admission to the Garden is 2-for-1, ranging from $9 to $24, and admission to the Greenheart TreeWalk is half-price all weekend long.

  • What: Car Free Day celebrates the vibrancy of Vancouver’s diverse neighbourhoods by organizing a multi-site annual arts and culture festival that reclaims traffic thoroughfares as community focused public spaces. This allows artists, local residents, performers, artisans, non-profits, and businesses to interact, engage, and re-imagine spaces normally reserved for vehicle traffic.

Slavic Day 2017

  • What: A fun multicultural event for the whole family. Try real Borscht, Blinchiki, and Bigus while enjoying live performances and browsing the all day Fair Market.

Father’s Day at Historic Stewart Farm

  • What: Take Dad out for a memorable date at Historic Stewart Farm. Bring the whole family for locomotive fun, featuring the Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club and their display model trains, train rides courtesy of the Pacific Trackless Trains, sack races with Dad on the lawn, baked treats made on the wood burning stove in the farmhouse kitchen and more.

Raymond James Father’s Day Walk Run for Prostate Cancer

Splash! BC Family Fishing Day

  • What: ​Try your luck at catching rainbow trout at Rice Lake. Enjoy a BBQ, exhibits, face painting and other festivities.  Catch the shuttle to visit the dam and fish hatchery and explore the Seymour Valley.
  • Where: Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve. Meet at Rice Lake Gate – 4900 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver
  • When: Sunday, June 18, from 10 am to 3 pm
  • Admission: Free activities.  BBQ $10 per plate. Proceeds go to Seymour Salmonid Society.
