Khatsahlano Street Party

  • What: This free annual festival will take over 10 blocks along Kitsilano’s 4th Avenue, with main stages at both Burrard Street and MacDonald Street. The Zolas, The Courtneys, D.O.A. and Lousie Burns are among a massive lineup.

Carnaval Del Sol 2017

  • What: Carnaval de Sol is the biggest Latin festival in the Pacific Northwest. It will be two days of live music, art, dance, sports, and poetry in celebration of Latin American Culture. For 2017, Carnaval del Sol will bring together more than 350 artists from different Latin American countries.
  • Where: Concord Pacific Place, Vancouver
  • When: July 8 and 9, 2017

Farmhouse Fest 2017

  • What: Back for its third year at UBC Farm, Farmhouse Fest 2017 is going down on July 8 from 11 am to 6 pm. Your ticket to this event gets you entry, a tasting glass, and five drink tokens (4oz per drink), if you purchase an early access ticket you’ll receive ten tokens. For food, festivalgoers will have their choice of grub served hot from stellar food trucks including TacofinoMelt CityFat DuckLe Tigre, and Via Tevere Pizzeria.

Dog Days of Summer

  • What: ​Visit this new dog off-leash area with your furry friend and chat with trainers to learn canine courtesies like how to hike with your dog off-leash.

The Drowsy Chaperone – Theatre Under The Stars

  • What: TUTS is switching things up from its steady diet of family-friendly staples with this five-time Tony Award-winning musical. The Canadian parody packs all the glitz and glam of the 1920s Jazz Age into a musical homage. Equipped with all of the saucy innuendo you can handle, this adult-only production will surely heat up Stanley Park this summer.
  • Where: Malkin Bowl at Stanley Park – 610 Pipeline Road, Vancouver
  • When: July 8 to August 19
  • Tickets: At Tickets Tonight; $30-$49
  • What: Festivalgoers can expect 50 breweries, 200 + craft beers, food trucks, and music at this annual half-day event in Sea to Sky country. Of course, when you get 1,500 craft beer lovers together for a celebration you’re going to need some food in addition to the ciders and beers, so there’s going to be some food trucks on site.

Vans Park Series Vancouver

  • What: See some of the world’s top skateboarders compete against each other in the Vans Park Series. This year’s event is taking place at the legendary Hastings Skatepark in East Vancouver. It has one of the most intense skateboarding courses in the world so you’ll get to see some seriously epic jumps.

Car Free Day on the Drive

  • What: The festival stretches across 15 blocks featuring local artisans, musicians, community activities, delicious food, tons of entertainment and activities for all ages. As the place that Car Free Day began, Commercial Drive stays true to its grassroots beginnings and the story behind the festival.
  • When: July 9
  • Time: Noon to 7 pm
  • Where: Venables to North Grandview on Commercial Drive

Robson Square Salsa 2017

  • What: Whether you’re a beginner or Salsa pro, these afternoons will definitely spice up your summer. Enjoy a free dance lesson taught by some of Vancouver’s best salsa instructors. Following the lessons, there is a dance show that features some of Vancouver’s most talented dancers.
  • When: Every Sunday from July 9 to August 13
  • Time: Lessons run from 3 to 3:30 pm. Dance show starts at 5 pm. After party begins at 7 pm.

Ladner Village Market

  • What: 2017 marks the 21st season for the Ladner Village Market, which takes over the heart of Ladner Village on select Sundays in the summertime. It’s a phenomenal market, with live music, tons of vendors, and much to see and taste.

Million Dollar Quartet – Arts Club

  • What: Elvis Presley. Johnny Cash. Jerry Lee Lewis. Carl Perkins. Recreating the real-life moment where these four rock idols were brought together for the first and last time ever, Million Dollar Quartet is a ‘jukebox musical’ that covers all of their greatest hits. Explore a time of great diversity for the Memphis music scene as the artists are immortalized on vinyl together at the Sun Records Studio on December 4, 1956.

Symphony in the Park 2017 

  • What: Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will be returning to Deer Lake this summer for its annual free outdoor concert. Bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy an evening of live music performed by some of Vancouver’s most talented musicians. This year’s performance features classical favourites and two of the most famous and beloved John Williams movie themes. Event organizers would like to remind concert-goers that parking in the vicinity is limited, so alternate transportation is recommended.

Free Outdoor Cello Concert Series

  • What: Clara Shandler, Vancouver’s Sidewalk Cellist, draws mysterious directions on sidewalks and plays her cello in public parks. She provides listeners with a cello-based musical smorgasboard, from Bach to Nirvana, jazz to metal, and everything in between.

Vancouver Vintage Motorcycle Show & Shine 2017

  • What: Show off your pre-1990’s ride in the parking lot of the Deeley Exhibition with dozens of other cool bikes on display, along with a few select gems from the collection. Register your ride for $10 and get a free lunch as well as free admission to the museum. Free to attend.

Roedde House Classical Series presents: Two to Tango

  • What: Summer sizzles with a sultry program for piano duo, aptly titled Two to Tango. The Meeks Duo, husband and wife Scott Meek and Claire Yuan, dance their fingers through repertoire by Brahms, Rodriguez, Vancouver composer Frank Levin, and Astor Piazzolla.

Bike Decorating Party

  • What: Bring your bike to the Granville Island Kids Market (out back by the pond) and decorate your bike. They supply the pieces, you provide the bike. Plus the Vancouver Community Police will be there to register your bikes for free.

2017 Vancouver Greek Summerfest

  • What: The Vancouver Greek Summer Festival is an annual celebration of food, entertainment, and family fun — from the famous “BBQ Lamb” and “Loukoumades” to the dozens of live singers and dancers on the Performance Stage. This year’s feature performances includes Zougla, Urban Myth, Asi Somos, Dolphin Jazz and Golden Thread Orchestra, Jim Byrnes, Gotta B George Michael tribute artist, DJ Alpha Music and bouzouki music with Yannis Sahamis.
