Episodes from the Life of Robert Schumann

  • What: Learn about the life of Robert Schumann through his music. Pianist Barry Tan, with guests Ben Goheen, Peter Ing and Will Chen, will perform three Schumann works from different periods in the composer’s life, while recounting fascinating episodes that are representative of each phase.

Sarah and Michael Explore Port Coquitlam – Book Launch

  • What: PoCo Heritage has collaborated with Art Focus, Friends of Leigh Square, and various local writers and artists to create a children’s history book.

Girls Night Out

  • What: The Port Moody Arts Centre annual Girls Night Out is a night of comedy by women for women. Featuring stand-up comedian Erica Sigurdson and friends, with proceeds supporting arts and music programming and gallery initiatives at the Port Moody Arts Centre.

Halloween Howl Haunted House

Demystifying Mushrooms

  • What: ​​Learn to identify common mushrooms without harvesting them, and investigate fungi’s role as the underground interconnected “world wood web”.  A 30 minute indoor slideshow is followed by a slow trail walk. ​Ages 15+.

Star Wars Reads Day

  • What: Experience Star Wars in the library with crafts, Jedi Training Academy, contests, prizes and more. There will be fun activities for every age – from Padawans to Jedi Masters.

Mom’s The Word 3: Nest 1/2 Empty

  • What: From the creative team behind the Mom’s the Word series comes a new chapter in their stories of family and fracas. Their kids are grown, their marriages have “evolved,” and their bodies are backfiring. Life doesn’t get any prettier, but it never strays far from ludicrous or poignant as the moms continue to mine their personal history for every embarrassing detail. Filled with insights, secrets, and ribald humour.
