10 things to do in Surrey in March

Surrey is loaded with fun events in March, from art exhibits to a cask festival and everything in between. To get you started, here are 10 things to do around the city this month.

Dance Without Limits Surrey

  • What: Dance Without Limits offers a safe, active environment for children and youth with all disabilities to have fun while exploring dance, creative movement and games. Please note that participants who may require substantial physical or behavioural support may be asked to attend alongside a guardian or support worker.
  • Where: Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre – 13458 107a Avenue, Surrey
  • When: Every Thursday until March 30 from 5 to 6 pm
  • Cost: Free, inclusive program. Drop-ins, parents and caregivers are welcome!

  • What: Part anthem, part campfire story, Tomboy Survival Guide is a collaboration of writer and truth-teller Ivan Coyote and an all-tomboy band—Alison Gorman (trumpet), Pebbles Willekes (bass guitar), and Sally Zori (drums). A blend of story with music that defies gender boxes.
  • Where: Centre Stage at Surrey City Hall – 13450 104 Avenue, Surrey

The Construction Expo

  • What: Construction innovation, trends, quality materials, contemporary architecture, green technologies and solutions will be in the spotlight during The Construction Expo. The event is also an opportunity to exchange ideas for all those interested in supplying quality products and services.
  • Where: Cloverdale Agriplex – 17798 62 Avenue, Surrey
  • When: March 11 to 12 from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Tickets: Online, free with pre-registry and $10 on March 11 and 12

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

  • What: A free family St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Activities will include arts and crafts, mint green milkshakes and a pot of gold fishing.

  • When: March 11 from 1:45 to 3 pm

Opening Night by Norm Foster

  • What: The Royal Canadian Theatre Company’s final show of the 2016/2017 season. Ellie King directs this fantastic comedy where sports meets the theatre in a hilarious evening out.

Celtic Fest

  • What: The Surrey Museum’s annual Celtic Fest, featuring Celtic musicians, dance performances a fun scavenger hunt throughout the Museum’s galleries, crafts and more.

  • When: March 18 from 1 to 4 pm

Spring Cleaning at Historic Stewart Farm

  • What: Pioneers did not have vacuum cleaners or washing machines – find out how they got their homes spic and span when you drop in for spring cleaning time at the Farm. Beat the rugs, sweep the veranda, pump water, wash the clothes and more as you help us clean like a pioneer. Kids not tired out yet? Take them out on the Farm’s scenic grounds to run some energy off.

Get Reel Film Series: Koneline, Our Beautiful Land

  • What: Koneline: Our Land Beautiful does not lecture; it surprises with cinematic action and visual poetry. It is a bold experimental film from some of Canada’s leading documentary artists.

  • When: March 29 at 7 pm

Surrey Festival of Dance

  • What: The 51st annual Surrey Festival of Dance is one of the largest amateur dance competitions in North America. This year, over 8,000 dancers from preschool to adult will compete. Everyone is welcome to watch.

Good Money™ Talks Small Business Series – Surrey

  • What: The half-day event combines networking and learning, and will include a complimentary breakfast and lunch, 30-minute presentations by business experts, exhibition booths from Small Business BC and Vancity and tools and resources tailored for entrepreneurs and small business owners seeking to start or grow their business.
