Richmond is packed with fun events in April, from LEGO to international dance and everything in between. To get you started, here are 10 things to do around the city this month.

The Watershed

  • What: Celebrated documentary theatre artist Annabel Soutar leads her family on a cross-Canada journey, probing the forces that are shaping the future of our dwindling natural resources. The Watershed deftly documents a nation struggling to find the balance between environment and industry.

Mark Haney and Seth: Omnis Temporalis

  • What: Omnis Temporalis is a multiform project that draws together the cartoon work of Canadian cartoonist, Seth, with contemporary classical music and performance by Vancouver-based composer, Mark Haney.

Lunch & Learn: “Leverage Grant Funding for Business Growth”

  • What: Use your lunch hour to learn a new skill, improve your business practices and make valuable connections. This Richmond Chamber Lunch & Learn seminar is presented Stephanie Sang of Granted Consulting. Meet new people and enjoy a delicious hot lunch provided by series sponsor, Boston Pizza.

Pacific Autism Family Network – Girls Club Launch

  • What: Girls Club is an inclusive group for girls with autism and related disorders in the Lower Mainland. Enjoy music, eat pizza, and make Easter baskets – all ages are welcome.

Easter at the Cannery

  • What: The Easter Salmon makes its annual return this year to hide eggs for the little ones to find throughout the historic cannery. At 10:30 am, The Great Salmon “Egg” Hunt will start and repeat every 30 minutes throughout the day with the last egg hunt at 4:30 pm. There will also be Easter crafts, games and an interactive story-time suitable for kids ages 2 to 12 years old.

Easter Bunny Fest 2017

  • What: Rabbitats’ annual Easter Bunny Fest features herds of rescued rabbits in Rabbitville, their own colourful little rabbit village. Enjoy Easter crafts, face painting, games and more.

BrickCan 2017 at the River Rock

  • What: Canada’s largest public LEGO celebration, showcasing the talents of an international group of LEGO builders, while offering attractions for the whole family.
  • When: April 22 and 23

Super Mario Maker – Super Course Challenge!

  • What: Test your skill, brain and might in a Super Mario Maker challenge with varying difficulty levels. Share your own levels with others, or try some new ones.

Artist Workshop: Autobiographical Comics

  • What: Comic book artist Sean Karemaker provides an illustrated talk on his work, and demonstrates the art of the autobiographical comic. Learn how to use personal stories to create your own one-page comic. All art materials provided.

International Dance Day – Free Dance Workshops and Performances

  • What: Learn four types of diverse cultural dances in celebration of International Dance Day. The next day enjoy multicultural dance performance in celebration of Canada 150. Produced by Sudnya Dance Academy and Clarkson Events.
