The Urban Tea Merchant: Sakura Westcoast Tea Service

Dec 19 2017, 3:17 pm

Spring is slowly creeping into Vancouver and the cherry blossoms are finally starting to appear! What’s a better way to enjoy the cherry blossom trees than accompanying the view at the Alberni courtyard with The Urban Tea Merchant’s Sakura Westcoast Tea Service?

The Sakura Westcoast Tea Service is a seasonal-themed platter with an assortment of sweets and savouries and finished with a Japanese touch. To go with the Sakura theme, two new Haute Couture teas arrived just for this spring. The White Spring Tea and the Sakura! Sakura! Tea are two new additions to The Urban Tea Merchant collection.

The White Spring Tea is a limited edition tea that contains a blend of rare Yin Zhen white tea and cherry blossoms. This is a lighter tea compared to the Sakura! Sakura! Tea, which is a blend of green tea and cherry blossoms.

The Sakura Westcoast Tea Service is not complete without The Urban Tea Merchant’s signature infused-tea bites and edibles. The savouries in this meal are:

Miso-maple glazed sable fish in butter lettuce

Wasabi and smoked salmon with ponzu jelly

"Lapsong Souchong Tea" chicken spoon

"Sakura! Sakura! Tea" seared tuna tataki

The sweets are always just as important, and I fell for The Sakura Westcoast Tea Service’s chocolate-dipped madeleines and TWG Tea macarons.

If you don’t recognize these two TWG Tea macarons, it is because they just arrived at The Urban Tea Merchant. The Matcha Macaron and The Vanilla Bourbon Tea & Kaya Macaron are two bright gems in the mix of the food. The Matcha Macaron is filled with matcha-infused ganache. The Vanilla Bourbon Tea & Kaya Macaron contains a cream made with pandan leaf extract, white chocolate and coconut with an infusion of TWG Tea’s Vanilla Bourbon Tea.

At last, The Urban Tea Merchant has also decorated their shop with themed teas and accessories for those who want to bring some Sakura flavour back home.
