Innocent Coffee relocates, transforms into The Taste and See Shop

Innocent Coffee, a Vancouver-based coffee house specializing in locally-roasted coffee and homemade baked goods, has moved from its five-year home on West 4th to a new location nearby on West 1st.

Officially opening today, January 5, Innocent Coffee has emerged as The Taste and See Shop.

The new shop is owned and operated by YaWei Lin and Jerome Lin, just like the original two-storey outpost. However, for this project, the sister-brother duo have decided to partner up with Moving Coffee, who will host cupping and tasting events, barista workshops, and serve coffee on the weekends.

“The coffee experience in the new shop will be different from what you would normally find in a conventional cafe operation,” remarks YaWei.

Indeed, the coffee experience generated at The Taste and See Shop is curated and operated by two parties; Innocent Coffee will run operations Monday through to Friday, while on Saturday and Sunday the storefront will be managed by Moving Coffee.

Continuing their coffee service using beans from Origins Organics Coffee on Granville Island, YaWei and Jerome will serve brew-by-the cup coffee, espresso-based beverages, and ready-brew coffee. They also plan to feature additional roasters in the coming months.

“The biggest change we’ve made is that we have re-branded and re-structured our operation, from a coffee shop to a multi-purpose retail shop,” says YaWei. The 227 square foot space features a broad range of retail goods made by YaWei and Jerome, and other goods produced by local artists.

While Innocent Coffee accumulated quite the following, thanks to their home-baked goods, YaWei and Jerome will not be able to bake on-site. Wanting to keep their returning patrons satisfied, YaWei and Jerome will source a range of appetizing pastries from local suppliers.
