Popular Gastown spot The Sardine Can announces permanent closure

Another sad announcement for Vancouver’s food and beverage scene today.

Much-loved Gastown Spanish tapas joint, The Sardine Can, has announced it is closing permanently.

The 26 Powell Street bistro released a statement on social media on Monday evening.

Owners thanked staff, suppliers, and customers for making the restaurant’s “journey all worth the while.”

Another Vancouver restaurant announced it’s closing permanently at the end of this week, The Holy Crab.
