The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide: The Parlour

We’re taking a tasty tour of Vancouver’s many brunches to create The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide. This week we’re in Yaletown, digging into The Parlour‘s creative and fresh-tasting brunch pizzas.

Who says you can’t have pizza for brunch? The folks at The Parlour on Hamilton Street certainly believe that chowing down on pizza in the morning is a great way to begin the day, so much so they have created a delicious range of individual-sized brunch pizzas to be savoured on the weekend.

Topped with fresh, high quality ingredients, The Parlour’s brunch inspired pizzas include a variety of temptations like the wildly popular Smoked Benjamin (the restaurant’s take on salmon benny), and the Huevos Benedictinos (a hearty pizzette comprised of eggs, salsa, chorizo, Hollandaise, avocado, tomato sauce and mozzarella).

Brought together by a fantastically buttery Hollandaise, the braised short rib pizza ($14), with its topping of caramelized onion, Gruyere cheese, tomato sauce, red potatoes, and over-easy eggs, is an excellent mid-morning breakkie choice.

Totally brunch appropriate, the Eggs Benedict pizza ($12) is more about quality than it is about complexity. With soft poached eggs, Black Forest ham, tomato sauce, mozzarella and Hollandaise, the flavours achieved on this singular served pizza are simple, yet thoroughly divine.

Depending on hunger levels, brunch-goers at The Parlour have the choice to opt for either one or two eggs atop their homemade pizza dough. While two eggs ensure a more substantial meal, one egg means that each pizza will be accompanied by a small portion of fresh-cut fruit.

The Parlour’s brunch menu also features a handful of add-ons, like grilled chorizo, red potato hash, and smoked salmon, all priced at $3. For the gluten intolerant, there’s even a gluten-free pizza base, which can be requested for an extra $2.

In addition to their pizza-based menu items, The Parlour offers patrons a choice of granola with yoghurt, berries and honey ($7), prosciutto wrapped melon ($6), and a fruit plate ($5). The regular pizza menu is also available for those who don’t fancy eggs on their dough.

Like other brunch spots around town, The Parlour offers its guests a variety of morning drinks, in the way of tea, coffee, juice, Mimosas and Caesars. Turn up to brunch on a Sunday and be rewarded by discounted Double Caesars. Normally priced at $9.25, on Sundays they’re $6.

While The Parlour’s chic interior lounge is a pleasant space to enjoy a meal, when the sun is shining bright the restaurant’s sidewalk patio is the place to be. Whether patrons opt to sit in or out, with comfortable seating options, thoughtfully laid table settings and a warm ambience, a pleasurable dining experience is most certainly guaranteed.

With tasty and unique brunch choices, friendly service and a relaxed vibe, The Parlour should be placed high on top of a weekend list of brunch places to visit.
