The Main Street Honey Shoppe

DH Vancouver Staff Jun 24, 2013 7:55 am

Honey lovers will find a sweet surprise at Main & King Edward this summer, as The Main Street Honey Shoppe is now open for business.

Foodies are already buzzing about Main Street’s newest shopping experience. No need to head to farm country for a taste of honey straight from the hive—the artisanal honey shop will offer locals and shoppers access to farm fresh honey in the heart of the city. From sources like blueberry flowers (with a rich brown sugar taste), the fireweed plant (buttery and sweet) and buckwheat (pungent and earthy), there’s a whole world of locally farmed honey outside of the grocery story—and something to suit every taste. With hundreds of honeybee hives hard at work all spring and summer, The Main Street Honey Shoppe can fill the shelves with dozens of unique varietals year ‘round, from B.C. and beyond.

And should visitors tire of taste-testing honey (as if that’s even possible), there’s plenty more in store: shelves filled with pure beeswax candles and soaps, all-natural health products—like propolis, royal jelly, and pollen—straight from the hive, freshly baked scones slathered with creamed clover honey, and (pending approval!) a bustling honeybee colony observation hive.

The Main Street Honey Shoppe is the latest project from Honeybee Centre, a commercial honey farm, learning centre, and country store located in Surrey, B.C. The company is thrilled to be joining such a vibrant neighbourhood and community, with a soft opening slated for Monday, June 10, 2013, and a special surprise presentation scheduled as part of Main Street Car Free Day on Sunday, June 16. The Main Street Honey Shoppe looks forward to hosting a media preview and grand opening soon.
