On October 24, dancers, choreographers and urban dance enthusiasts will come together for the fourth instalment of The Main Event.
The Main Event was established in 2013 by Vancouver based Hip Hop dance choreographers Ken Yung and Darylle Johnson. Being veterans to the Vancouver dance scene, Yung and Johnson felt that even though the city has plentiful selection of live dance shows, the majority are of the contempary/modern genre and almost none showcases the vibrant urban/street dance talents of the city.
Meanwhile, movies that focuses on Hip Hop dance culture such as Step Up does very well in the box office, it potentially represents that there is an underserved market that would enjoy watching a live show put on by the amazingly talented Hip Hop dancers from right here. Hence, The Main Event was born.
Alongside the Vancouver dancers and choreographers, there will be four seperate pieces put on by dancers and choreographers from LA, Scaremento and Seattle. After all the performances, the event will turn into the party with the dancers cyphering and dance with the audiences. It will truly be a fun and authethic experience for those who are interested in Vancouver’s urban dance scene!
Purchase advanced tickets for $20 or buy at the door for $25.
