The menu-revamp is happening alongside a larger transformation as The Living Room continues to evolve into a food-focused restaurant and bar.
Despite the changes, the vibrant atmosphere and reputation for excellent service will still remain intact at this foodie-friendly spot, as will its eclectic decor, brightly coloured walls, and laissez-faire ambience.
As the name suggests, the unique space has been curated to make patrons feel at home. No matter the vibe — from happy hour to late-night snacks — the popular hangout spot remains a place to put up your feet and clink glasses.
The resident chef and ‘best chef in Vancouver’ contender in the 2020 Golden Plates Awards, Chef Kai Leitner, has crafted an unpretentious and fresh menu focused on locally-sourced ingredients. The new menu, which is designed for sharing, predominantly features house-made small plates.
Variety is the name of the game when it comes to the new and improved 24 item menu, and guests are encouraged to sample all of the diverse flavours it has to offer. The dishes are ideal for sharing and best enjoyed alongside the restaurant’s happy-hour-friendly craft cocktails.
The King Crab, finished with miso butter, is made even better with the house infused lemongrass sake “luge.” Fraser Valley Lamb Ribs, with hoisin five spice, coriander, and crushed peanuts, are just one of the many items showcasing local farms and purveyors.
Other menu items worth exploring include the Smoked Beef Tartare, Black Truffle Flatbread, Beet Carpaccio with Burrata, Cauliflower Fritters, and Mussels Rockefeller. Each of the dishes creatively incorporates delicacies from the earth’s natural elements: land, garden, and ocean.
The cocktail menu, spearheaded by beverage manager Zach Preston, is equally imaginative and features a curated selection of drinks focused on bright colours, summer flavours, and timeless classics. Here, you’ll also find cheeky spins on old favourites, like the Broken Down Bicycle and Bourbon Buck.
Happy hour is available daily from 4 pm to 6 pm and includes fresh Buck a Shuck Oysters from nearby Fanny Bay, $5 drinks, and other menu items on special.
Located in the heart of Granville Entertainment District, The Living Room is looking forward to showcasing its new menu to restaurant-goers. It’s also the perfect spot to watch all your favourite sports teams (because we’re all going to get tired of watching at home).
