The Gentrification of South Main Continues…

Dec 19 2017, 11:54 am

District condo development in South Main is described as a building for the people, by the people. Too bad in the poster it looks like a dejected artist realizing he can’t afford a unit in the building. Wait a minute is that DJ Flipout, I’m just playing, Flip could most certainly afford this with his Beat 94.5 salary.

Studio suites start at $239,900 and 2 bedrooms at $399,000.

If these prices are not within your range might I suggest to you a lovely basement rental suite or perhaps a house in Hope because to live in South Main at these prices is a great deal. However, beware of the mighty HST which will kick in mid next year that will increase costs. The first building has sold out and the second one is on sale starting this weekend.  This is the first of many developments slated for the South Main. Across the street from district is another mid-rise development, the name escapes me at the moment.

The demand for this building is an encouraging sign for Mount Pleasant as it kicks Strathcona to the side in an attempt to gentrify. Strathcona I fear will become a homeless and open air drug market in the near future. Who said gentrification in Vancouver isn’t inevitable.
