Brace your elves: The Elf Run is coming

Dec 20 2017, 2:59 am

Calling all elves! The Big Elf Run in Stanley Park is taking place on December 20, and all holiday-lovers are invited to experience the Winter Wonderland, music, awards and after-party.

The Elf Run will wind through Stanley Park and the seawall, passing by water and hot chocolate stations and some of Vancouver’s most spectacular views. Runs range from a 1km “Wee Elf Run” to the 5km “Elf Run”. Participants will finish up at the Winter Wonderland Park for post-race festivities and an award ceremony.

A DJ will be present at the park playing holiday music and pumping crowds up for the 19+ after-party at Lux Lounge

As for the big guy in red, event organizers are looking for a special someone to be nominated as Santa for the day.

“We will be bestowing the honourable title of Santa Claus on a local community figure who epitomised Santa throughout 2015 by positively impacting and bringing cheer to the lives of children and the community at large,” says the event page. Nominations for Santa will be open from Tuesday, December 1 to Friday, December 4.

And of course, like any real holiday event, the Elf Run will be collecting donations through gift wrapping and toys for the toy drive, along with clothes and books for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver.
