Enjoy a day at the races with the Deighton Cup 2015

Dec 20 2017, 12:02 am

The Deighton Cup, named after famous Vancouverite John “Gassy Jack” Deighton, combines horse racing, craft cocktails, fashion and a charitable cause for an event unlike any other in Metro Vancouver.

Hosted at the Hastings Racecourse, the Deighton Cup is a spectacle of the music, drink and decadence. Eight horse races will take place throughout the day, along with competitions for Best Dressed, a variety of casino games on the midway, a catered luncheon, car show, live music and craft cocktails from some of the best bartenders in the city.

This year’s event, titled Lucky Number Seven, marks the 7th year of the Deighton Cup. To celebrate the auspicious number, the event will feature a Casino-themed midway, with the proceeds from blackjack and roulette going to Variety, the Children’s Charity. Five dollars from each ticket sold will also go to Variety, in support of children across British Columbia.

Thanks to the resounding success of past events, this year’s Deighton Cup will double in size. A viewing platform and grandstand will accommodate 1,500 additional race fans, from general concourse attendees to VIPs. There are also packages available for groups looking for a private viewing suite in the grandstand, including the Grandstand Private Suite Package, which can hold up to 30 guests.
