An immersive digital exhibition showcasing the life work of Leonardo Da Vinci will be coming to Metro Vancouver starting this June.
Titled The Da Vinci Experience, the event is described as a visual and sensory celebration that highlights Da Vinci’s life and work as a renowned artist, inventor, engineer, and innovator.
The exhibition is curated by Dr. Roberta Barsanti, Director of the Leonardian Museum in Florence, Italy. While it has drawn more than three million visitors around the world, this is the first time that the activation will make an appearance in Canada.
Organizers describe the event as a “sensory journey,” one of the highlights of which is a 4,000 sq ft immersive experience room that uses 360-degree projections to show off Da Vinci’s original works.
Projections will also be used to create a virtual reality experience of inside Da Vinci’s studio. Additionally, there will be replicas of the unique inventions and machines he created based on original drawings.
Visits will take approximately one hour and timed entry takes place every 30 minutes. The experience is open to visitors of all ages, is wheelchair friendly, and organizers stress that they’ll be following all recommendations from the Ministry of Health. Mask usage and social distancing will also be mandatory.
The Da Vinci Experience will be hosted at Tsawwassen Mills mall starting this June. Presale tickets for the event will be released on Thursday, April 15 and start at $19.99 (plus tax and fees).
