The Ascot, your friendly neighborhood lounge!

Dec 19 2017, 1:43 pm

Walking into the Ascot lounge, you immediately feel a vibe that is much different from the majority of the restaurants, pubs and various venues located in Vancouver. Instead of your typical porcelain and chiseled crowd who wear liters of cologne and perfume in a tightly squeezed area, The Ascot allows you to feel comfortable and content.  The causal, yet trendy dress wear, delicious and reasonably priced food and beverage menu, friendly staff, a hidden garden patio, the upbeat R&B, Hip Hop, and variety of funky music creates an overall unique experience.

The artwork and diverse decor is impressively spread out throughout the restaurant, mix matching strategically, which creates a New York kind of feel. One of a kind art pieces are swimming along the walls, including a recent piece from a local artist, Vince Dumoulin. From a once self-described criminal to becoming the mastermind in starting a program to help misguided youth, Vince carries the inspirational story of his life through his work in Vancouver, and is now a well known mentor for hundreds of youth. He painted an interesting interpretation of the queen for the Ascot, in a young and somewhat sexy version of herself, which was, and still is stirring up a lot of controversy.

This New York/British inspired lounge is freshly new to Vancouver. Recently celebrating it’s 1st birthday, the growth and success of the Ascot has skyrocketed, and has continued to skyrocket into an abyss of awesomeness.

If you’re interested in experiencing the Ascot, or seeing the controversial painting of her majesty, The Ascot Lounge is open Monday to Thursday from 5:00 pm – 1:00 am, and Friday to Saturday from 5:00 pm – 2:00 am. If you decide to visit on a Friday or Saturday night, show up early. Local DJ’s are booked in for both nights.
