Coffee, more importantly coffee shops have become a vital part of the Vancouver culture. They are to us, what pubs are to Brits and baristas are the ones slinging our daily dose. So in celebration of the coffee culture Blenz Coffee, a great locally owned company, is hosting the first annual latte art festival dubbed “That Barista Thing” It’s a full day event celebrating latte art and barista culture. Oh and it’s FREE to attend plus free coffee, lattes, and hot chocolate for kids! What’s stopping you from attending.

The Vancouver International Latte Art Competition will be the main attraction at the event with latte artists from Japan and all over the lower mainland competing! There’ll be the usual free-pour competition and, for the first time ever, an etching competition!
Here is a video demonstration that took place at the recent 12×12 photography marathon at Blenz Yaletown location:
Aside from the competitions there will be a traditional Japanese tea ceremony demonstration, tea leaf readings by Maxine Friend – Clairvoyant, live art show by Sam Laufer, live music by The Reverberators, a button making station, and an etching workshop with etching specialist Aki Tokuhara.
