That Barista Thing! – sponsored by Blenz Coffee – will celebrate barista culture and latte art at the fourth annual event on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 11 am to 4 pm at the Vancouver Public Library (350 West Georgia Street).
Typically industry-only events, That Barista Thing brings the barista competition into the public realm, literally. This open to the public event hosts world-class baristas from local cafes, coffee companies and from as far away as Japan and Australia. Get ready for do-or-die head-to-head competitions in two categories: Free Pour Latte Art and Etching Latte Art, both of which offer some of the largest cash prizes for a barista competition of this type anywhere in the world.

Besides the latte art events, there will be public craft workshops with local artists and baristas, caricature drawing, a traditional Japanese matcha green tea ceremony and tasting, a traditional Chinese oolong tea ceremony and tasting, ‘Tattly’ temporary tattoos. All these events are free and open to the public. As host, Blenz Coffee will be serving free lattes and coffees, and hot chocolate for kids.
