Thai Spa Brings Ancient Healing Art to Vancouver (2 $100 GC Giveaway!!)

Dec 19 2017, 12:35 pm

With the slew of outdoor festivals, concerts, and beach visits soon coming to a close, there’s one way to keep the staycation going – with a trip to the spa. In Vancouver, we’re fortunate to have experts who hail from different parts of the world, who bring their language and culture to our city. And what a better way to start a business than with what you know best! Enter Sabai Thai Spa and we got 2 $100 gift cards to giveaway!

Sabai Thai Spa was founded by Molly Sutthasilp and husband and wife team Neata Auttapong and Jacques Goutier. Neata was born and raised in Northern Thailand, where she mastered the practice of Thai massage from the local master. After years of training, she worked in five-star Thai hotels and resorts, including Chiva Som, once rated the #1 spa in the world. After moving to Vancouver 6 years ago, she helped to launch the first Sabai Thai Spa location in North Vancouver (Sabai means “relaxation” and “comfort” in the Thai language). A second location opened up this past April in Coal Harbour downtown.

Sabai Thai Spa’s aim is to preserve the ancient practices like Thai massage, the Thai Ancient Herbal Compress (herbs wrapped in a steamed cotton compress), Thai Foot Massages, and Thai White Clay Body Wrap, which uses a white clay containing rich minerals and trace elements that the Thai people have used for hundreds of years to enhance beauty and health.

Unlike Western massages, Thai massage is performed in loose-fitting clothing with no oils. It involves breathing, clearing the mind, rhythmical pressure point massage along the body’s major energy channels, and passive stretching. Since Thai massage takes at least an hour or more, the therapist uses fingers, thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees, shins, heels, and feet to deliver the treatment. Clients of Sabai Thai have raved about the physical, mental, and psychological effects of Thai massage and regularly integrate it into their health and wellness regimens.
