Temperatures to soar over the next 7 days in Metro Vancouver

Dec 19 2017, 7:13 pm

Brace yourselves for the hot weather to come, beginning Friday.

Sunny, clear sky conditions are expected to continue but temperatures will climb drastically in the Metro Vancouver region over the next seven days, reaching highs of 27°C by the water in Vancouver and 32°C further inland.

In Pemberton, just north of Whistler, the mercury could reach as high as 38°C.

While it might be the perfect time to head outdoors, there are also some hazards for those who are not acclimated to the heat. Hot weather and humidity can cause dehydration and heat exhaustion, and in serious cases heat stroke and death.

Ensure that you drink plenty of fluids, wear loose clothing, and wear sunscreen but avoid direct exposure to the sun over long periods.

As a general reminder, children and pets should never be left unattended inside a car, even if the windows are partially open.
