With less than two months to go until the TEDxVancouver 2015 conference, organizers have revealed three major speakers for this year’s ‘ID’ (identification) themed event.
The speakers include Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team Head Coach John Herdman, acclaimed Canadian music producer Chin Injeti, and author and economist Marina Adshade.
Herdman led Canada to win a bronze medal at the 2012 London Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. He also oversaw the team for its recent participation in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada.
Injeti is the co-founder of JUNO Award-winning Bass is Bass and has worked with Dr. Dre, DJ Khalil, Eminem and Drake while Adshade’s work in economics revolves around “theories on the interplay of market forces in the matters of love and libido.”
Over the coming weeks, more speakers will be the announced for the day-long event. This year’s theme aims to answer the following questions: Who are we? Who am I? Who will I be?
“These unique IDs are made of our differences, our perfections and imperfections, and they give us our own personality and inner narrative,” reads TEDxVancouver’s theme description. “From the second we enter into the world, each new act, each new relationship, and each new experience becomes an integral part to what we know as our character, redefining who we are and who we choose to become.”
Last week, organizers announced that this year’s event on Saturday, November 14, 2015 will be held at Rogers Arena as part of a wider theme to celebrate the stadium’s history – its 20th anniversary, in fact. It represents a major change as TEDxVancouver events were previously held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and Orpheum Theatre.
Passes for this year’s conference will be made available to the general public on October 8, 2015 at the event’s website.
TEDxVancouver should not be confused for the official and global TED Conference, held annually at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
