Dec 19 2017, 8:49 pm

Firefighters are responding to a vehicle fire between Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium in downtown Vancouver.

According to witnesses, a fire broke out in the taxi just after 6:30 p.m. when it was traveling on Griffths Way near Expo Boulevard. Heavy smoke was seen billowing out of the burning vehicle and onto the ceiling of the Georgia Viaduct.

The fire was quickly extinguished just after 7 p.m. and the cause of the incident is being investigated. It is unclear whether the taxi was a hybrid vehicle, as is the case with many Vancouver taxis, or a normal vehicle. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.
