3 days of giveaways & live performances: New Mount Pleasant music store to celebrate grand opening

Tapestry Music — one of B.C.’s most beloved and respected music retailers — has opened a brand new flagship store at 2705 Main St., right in the heart of Vancouver’s vibrant Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.

Housed in the historic Wenonah Building at Main & East 11th, the reimagined space is set to be much more than just a music store — it’ll be a sonic sanctuary and community hub for musicians of all ages and stages.

To celebrate its big debut, the store is hosting a three-day grand opening event, running from Friday, July 4 to Sunday, July 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — and you’re invited!

At the grand opening, expect exclusive gear specials, sweet giveaways, and a stacked lineup of live performances from local Vancouver talent, including Funk in the Trunk, Steven Marriott, Jay Leonard J, Eduardo Garcia, George Leach, Alex Flock, Blake Havard, Spectra, and Chris Fraser.

After six months of thoughtful design and a custom build-out, the new space is seriously impressive.

A 100-ft brick wall adorned with over 250 guitars welcomes visitors, alongside handcrafted wood cabinetry housing strings, brass, woodwinds, and digital pianos. Above it all, vintage chandeliers add a whimsical finishing touch — it’s the perfect blend of grit and glam.

“We wanted a space that felt creative and communal, where everyone could feel inspired, welcomed, and supported. This isn’t just a store, it’s a gathering place,” says Co-owner Michael Sabourin.
