Toronto has obviously dominated this list, constructing 26 of the top 35 buildings, followed by four in the Metro Vancouver area and two in Edmonton. Toronto’s tallest tower currently under construction, ‘The One’, is exactly twice as tall as number 35 on this list and will be the fourth tallest in Canada once completed.
Vancouver, despite having a hot construction market, has 27 protected view corridors that ensure residences can usually have a view of the surrounding mountains, but also makes it much more difficult to find the space to construct a tower that would rank higher on this list.
Montreal is in a similar situation with a regulation that ensures no tower is built taller than the cross on top of Mount Royal, which sits at 233 metres or 764 feet above mean sea level.
