Update: Police have announced that the registered owner of the hit-and-run vehicle has come forward and is now speaking with investigators.
Police are searching for the vehicle they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Abbotsford on Tuesday evening.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, emergency services responded to the hit-and-run at approximately 8:30 pm, in the 32600 blocks of Marshall Road.
A police statement says that a “newer model SUV-type vehicle” struck a 77-year-old South Asian male who was walking on the roadway.
The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.
Police are now asking for the driver of the vehicle to do the right thing and speak with investigators.
Officers are also looking for any of the witnesses who helped give assistance or acted as an interpreter at the scene.
