Win two seats at this sustainable drive-in dinner party in Vancouver

When you think of in-car dining, you probably picture the classic burger, fries and soda combo — nothing fancy, and typically nothing sustainable or ethically sourced.

Toyota BC and Ocean Wise are here to change that.

On August 12, Toyota BC is hosting an exclusive dining experience called Dîner en Hybrid, put on in partnership with the Vancouver Aquarium and Ocean Wise. Fueled by Toyota’s history of innovative car design and environmental stewardship, Dîner en Hybrid is a pop-up, drive-in event featuring a beautifully prepared menu crafted by renowned Ocean Wise executive chef, Ned Bell.

If this sounds like your idea of a fantastic evening, we’ve got news for you. From now until August 6, you can enter Toyota’s contest to WIN two free seats at this exciting event.

So, what exactly is Dîner en Hybrid? It’s a carhop-inspired, contest entry–only dining event that pairs sustainable eats with a drive-in hybrid experience. And we’ve got all the delectable details.

The event is a collaboration between Toyota BC, Ocean Wise, and the Vancouver Aquarium/Toyota BC Dealers

Dîner en Hybrid will take you on the kind of culinary adventure that every foodie dreams of. Prepared by Chef Bell’s team using sustainable, Ocean Wise-recommended seafood, the meal highlights Bell’s globally inspired palate and commitment to raising awareness of ocean conservation.

Expect dishes like shrimp canapes and wild BC salmon, but keep in mind that the menu is subject to change, so you’re bound to be surprised (and delighted) by what Chef Bell and the team put in front of you.

To get a sense of the chef behind the name, you can check out his stunning book of recipes, which just so happens to have made Daily Hive’s 2017 Holiday Gift Guide: Lure: Sustainable Seafood Recipes from the West Coast.

So, why did Toyota BC pair up with the Vancouver Aquarium and Ocean Wise to celebrate hybrids and sustainable cooking? For starters, Vancouverites love a good outside-the box-event. But the true key to this event is the relationship between hybrid vehicles and sustainable living. Hybrid technology allows us to ease off the fossil fuels, which gets us one step closer to improving the health of our oceans — and, by extension, our seafood.

Over the past few years, Ned Bell has spoken out about his own Toyota Hybrid, drawing the connection between it and sustainable food. As Bell states, “it’s really about making sure the ecosystem gives us this local wild fish for generations to come.”

Toyota Canada also scored a spot on Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2018, joining Ocean Wise, and have committed to an environmental challenge to drastically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by taking on the protection of over 200 acres of wetlands in Canada.

Dîner en Hybrid has a limited number of spots, so it’s time to put the pedal to the metal! Make sure to get your entry in before the contest ends (at midnight on August 6) for your chance to win a spot for you and a guest to dine en hybrid at one of the most unique dinner events of the summer.
