Surrey RCMP is investigating a fire at a residence in the Newton area they say left three people with serious injuries.
On July 7, at approximately 10:30 am, police and Surrey Fire Services responded to a fire in a basement suite of a residence located in the 7100-block of 144B street.
Three people — including two children — were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The children are currently in critical condition.
RCMP say this is a “suspicious fire” and investigators are working with fire services to determine the cause.
