Vancouver Police are seeking for the public’s assistance to resolve a violent purse snatching incident on Nanaimo Street that occurred on Tuesday.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., a woman was walking along Nanaimo Street near Kingsway Avenue when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her purse.

There was a struggle as the woman wrestled to keep her purse: she was hit a number of times and forced to release her hold on the bag. A nearby resident assisted the victim, who screamed for help and was bruised and shaken.

The man then ran northbound on Nanaimo Street, away from the scene of the incident. He is described as Caucasian, 30 years old, 5’9″ tall and with a medium build and face stubble. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.

Anyone who may have information on the incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police at 604-717-3200 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
