2 dead, 3 hospitalized after Surrey vehicle collision

Police in Surrey are investigating an early morning multi-vehicle collision that has claimed the lives of two people and injured another three.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of 88th Avenue and 152nd Street. A Toyota 4-Runner traveling westbound on 88th Avenue was making a left turn on 152nd Street, towards the southbound direction, when it was struck on the side by a Hyundai coming in eastbound.

After colliding with the Toyota, the Hyundai then deflected and struck a third vehicle traveling westbound on 88th Avenue.

Two people were killed in the incident, with one person pronounced dead at the scene and the other person succumbing to their injuries in hospital. Three other people are being treated in hospital; one person is in critical condition while the other two people are in serious but stable condition.

Police have not released the identity of the people involved in the incident as they are still in the process of notifying the next of kin.

The investigation is still in its early stages. The intersection where the incident occurred is expected to reopen later this morning.
