Surrey shooting sends one young man to hospital

Surrey RCMP are investigating an apparent targeted shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in a residential neighbourhood in Newton.

The incident unfolded just before 7 p.m. when a vehicle drove up to a man sitting inside a black vehicle parked near 127 Street and 78 Avenue. The suspect vehicle fired numerous shots, which hit the man and disabled his vehicle.

The suspects fled the scene in their vehicle, but another vehicle arrived to take the injured man to hospital.

The 21-year-old male victim suffered serious injuries in the incident and remains in hospital in stable condition.

Police have been able to talk to the victim and the individuals in the third vehicle who took the man to hospital.
