Surrey RCMP is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who allegedly assaulted and robbed a security guard.

Police were called to the scene around 2 a.m. on June 25 to an apartment building on the 10500-block of 132 Street.

The security guard told the police he had been patrolling the area when he was approached by a light-skinned black male who asked to use his flashlight to look for his lost keys.

The man took the flashlight and used it to assault him, taking his phone and wallet. The security guard was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP released a sketch Wednesday in hopes of identifying the suspect.

Anyone with more information is advised to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or reach out to Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS. The Quote file for this incident is #2015-89231.
