Surrey RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect after a violent sexual assault.
At around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, police were called to the 13200 block of 105th Avenue after neighbours heard a woman screaming. The woman apparently met the unknown man and they walked into a secluded walkway – he then allegedly sexually assaulted and stabbed her before running away.
A nearby good samaritan drove her to the hospital. Her injuries are described as serious but non-life threatening.
Surrey RCMP describe the man as black, 5’10” with a slight build, and around 30 years old. They also say he has a slight accent, and was wearing black pants and a black hoodie.
Corporal Scotty Shumann says the general public isn’t at risk, but wants vulnerable and at-risk women to be mindful of their personal safety.
Anyone with information is being asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
